Frequently Asked Questions

Physical therapists are highly trained health care professionals who examine, diagnose, treat and prevent conditions that limit the body’s ability to move and function in daily activities. Physical therapists use a comprehensive treatment program that may include modalities such as ultrasound, electrical stimulation, iontophoresis or traction, manual techniques which includes hands-on treatment for mobilization, positioning or stabilization and therapeutic exercises for range of motion, strengthening or stretching.

You will receive an initial evaluation by a licensed physical therapist to determine your level of function and what movements or positions reproduce your symptoms. The physical therapist will design a program tailored to your specific needs to help you reach your goals of returning to an active lifestyle.

You are free to choose whatever physical therapy provider you wish.

Every insurance company is different so when you call and give us your information, we will be able to check to see if you have a co-pay. If you do have a co-pay, insurance companies require us to collect them at each visit.

We understand that circumstances arise and we want therapy to be as convenient as possible. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please contact our office as soon as possible. We would appreciate 24 hour notice and therefore be able to contact other patients who may be waiting to get into therapy. We reserve the right to charge a fee for cancellations not given without 24 hours. There will also be a fee for “no shows.” If you do cancel, please make sure to reschedule your therapy appointment to ensure the success of your rehab program.

For those who do not have insurance or do not wish to use their insurance, you can speak to our office staff regarding physical therapy rates.

In West Virginia, you are allowed to see a physical therapist without a physician referral. Although direct access to physical therapy is available, many insurance companies require a referral for payment of physical therapy services. It is best if you check with your insurance to determine whether or not you are required to have a referral for coverage.
